This week's journey

Theme: THE EXPOSED HEART
Primary Tagline:"What God sees when nobody is looking"

Memory Verse: Ezekiel 36:26 (NIV)"I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh."

The Arc: From the hollow place — to the waking.

This week's Five:

POSITION 1 — THE HOLLOW PLACE

"Sardis" Wake the Dead | whispering HOPE

Most of us assume spiritual danger looks like walking away. This song tells a harder truth — that a person can look completely alive while something underneath has gone quiet. whispering HOPE pulls directly from Revelation 3, the letter to the church at Sardis: "You have a reputation of being alive, but you are dead." The outer light still fills the room. The works appear complete. But the heart is tombed. I picked this song because it names the diagnosis nobody wants but everybody in this arc needs to hear first. You can't expose what you won't acknowledge.

POSITION 2 — THE HONEST CRY

Questions | Samantha Ebert

The performance has to crack before God can get underneath it. Samantha Ebert captures the exact moment it does — not dramatically, not with a crisis, but with the quiet honest admission that you've been holding questions you haven't known how to say out loud. "I know that Your grace is sufficient but I can't help but wish things were different." That's not weak faith. That's the first honest moment in a long time. And honest is exactly where this arc needs to go next.

POSITION 3 — THE EXPOSURE

Den of Thieves | TEMITOPE

This is the most vulnerable song in the arc — and the most necessary. Temitope names what most people would never say out loud: I've been standing on stages, loving the applause, doing God's work for the wrong reasons. "My heart's a den of thieves — come flip the tables." Not just admitting what's wrong. Actively inviting God to do something about it. That invitation is the turning point of THE EXPOSED HEART. The moment the person stops managing the surface and asks God to get underneath it.

POSITION 4 — THE SURRENDER

The Author | Brandon Lake & Nick Jonas

After the exposure comes the release. Brandon Lake and Nick Jonas land on the question at the center of every self-authored life: "Who am I to question the pen in the hands of the Author?" The bridge is devastating in the best possible way — "I see trauma, I see worthless, You see something You can work with." This is what it sounds like when someone stops writing their own story and hands the pen to the One who can actually write something worth reading. "I'm ink in the pen in the hands of the Author." That's the surrender. That's Position 4.

POSITION 5 — THE WAKING

Yesterday Is Dead | Josiah Queen

"Woke up this morning and realized I've been made brand-new." That line is the entire arc in one sentence. The tombed heart from Position 1 didn't stay tombed. The honest cry of Position 2 was heard. The tables of Position 3 got flipped. The pen of Position 4 got handed over. And now — a new heart. A new spirit. The old man in the grave where he belongs. Josiah Queen closes this arc with the most important word in the whole journey: new. Not repaired. Not patched. New.
